Who We Are

We are not only attorneys who practice law throughout North Central Iowa, but we seek to participate in and serve the Algona and Britt communities in many professional and personal ways.  We align with our clients’ beliefs that we all need to contribute to the growth and development of the communities we serve and the people we meet.  We truly value the professional and personal relationships we share, both within and outside the law firm.

Dave Fenchel and Paul Doster have a long history together.  They attended law school at the same time and both were law clerks at the same Iowa City law firm during their law school years.  Paul graduated from law school in 1979 and was with a two-person general practice law firm in Pella, Iowa for five years.  Dave graduated in 1980 and practiced with a ten attorney litigation and general practice law firm in Waterloo for a year.

Dave then moved to Algona in 1981 to join a general practice law firm.  He and Paul were reunited when Paul joined the same Algona law firm in 1984.  In 1992, they started their own general practice law firm known as Fenchel & Doster.

In 1997, the opportunity to expand their practice arose and Fenchel & Doster merged with the Buck Law Office in Britt, Iowa, a general practice law firm having a history dating back to 1913, beginning with attorney Frank W. Senneff and subsequently including Erwin L. Buck and then his son, John E. Buck.  The firm then became known as Fenchel, Doster & Buck, P.L.C., with John as a third partner.  John passed away in 2009, but the Britt location continues today as a full-time office at the same location it has had since 1965.

In 2011, Benjamin J. Ennen joined Fenchel, Doster & Buck, P.L.C. as an associate attorney, working with Dave and Paul at both the Algona and Britt office locations.  Ben became a partner in the firm on January 1, 2016.

2017 precipitated many changes, on July 1, 2017 along with a change in locations for the Algona Office the firm name was changed to Fenchel, Doster, Buck & Ennen, P.L.C.

In 2018 Frances Schiro joined the firm as an associate attorney, working in both the Algona and Britt office locations.
